Meet Sean! A little about Sean in his own words:
I was born in Woodinville, WA, went to the University of Washington, and have lived in the Seattle area my whole life. Before joining the gym my main forms of movement were biking, occasionally running, and rarely swimming (whenever I’d sign up for a triathlon). I spend a good portion of my free time at the gym, often with my wife Jess. You’ll also see our child Nolan playing on our Nintendo Switch while we do our workouts.
How long have you been a member of GLSC?
I joined in January of 2024 and have been doing group and specialty classes ever since.
How has being a part of the gym benefitted you?
On top of what I expected to see (increased strength and agility) the gym has really improved my floor game. I thought my days of sitting cross legged or straight legged were behind me but turns out I just had a weak core and tight hamstrings!
What is your favorite movement or workout?
Squat based movements, especially front squats. For workouts, the medium and high intensity workouts scratch my itch for type 2 fun. I’ve found enjoyment in the more dynamic gymnastics movements like rope climb and toes to somewhere.
What is your favorite music or pump-up song?
Dance pop (Charli XCX and Dua Lipa for example) matches the energy I need to get pumped up.
What do you like most about Barbell Club?
I really enjoy the consistent workouts and focus on form and repetition. After a few weeks I saw a noticeable improvement in my clean and jerks and snatches. Drilling these movements in barbell club greatly increased my confidence and skills in the group classes.
