Meet Erin! A little bit about Erin in her own words:
Hello! I live in North Seattle with my husband Brent, our dog Louis, and our cat Hugo. I grew up mostly in the Seattle area but was actually born in Australia before my family moved to the states. I work at the University of Washington as an Executive Assistant. When I’m not at work or at the gym, you can find me spending time with my family or taking Louis for a walk. Our pandemic hobby was learning to sew our own clothes, so we spend a lot of free time trying to solve sewing challenges.

How long have you been a member of GLSC?
I joined in spring 2023

Why did you choose to sign up for Individualized Design at GLSC?
I started in regular class but switched to ID last summer when I decided to aim for some goals that required specific training. I wanted to run another Spartan race and put in some solid strength training to help with the obstacles. I ended up setting a best time at the race last year! Unfortunately, some things came up and I wasn’t able to race this fall, but I look forward to setting some new goals!

How has being a part of the gym benefitted you?
I really enjoy the community and the inclusiveness of the gym. It can be difficult to start somewhere new and I love to see that everyone is welcome at GLSC. I have been able to push myself to achieve fitness goals and learn new movements while making some new friends along the way. Louis loves to come to the gym and provide moral support to everyone between sets.

What is your favorite movement or workout?
Back squats, pull ups (assisted, for now!), and ab work. I especially love workouts that alternate between cardio and strength training.

What is your favorite music or pump up song?
Thunderstruck by AC/DC, For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica, Go_A’s Shum, Voyager’s album Promise…there are so many great options! I feel like getting to listen to great music while working out is half the point, right?
