✨Member Spotlight✨ Meet Heidi! A little about Heidi in her own words: Most people at GLSC know me as Deborah’s mom, which is fair. In her eyes, she’s the gym’s unofficial mascot. When I’m not chauffeuring her to class, I go by Heidi. I’m a somatic coach, bodyworker, and sound healer – which basically means I help people regulate their nervous systems, process life through their bodies, and remember they’re not just brains with arms. Fun fact: About 15 years ago, I wore a pink wig around Seattle while carrying a “Free Hugs” sign, hugging anyone who was open to connecting. It was a wild, love-fueled time. I was even interviewed by Q13 News… but sadly, it never aired. How long have you been a member of GLSC? I joined in August 2023, looking for something low-key and close to home. When I read how open, supportive, and inclusive the gym was, I knew I’d found my place. How has being a part of the gym benefitted you? Aside from making me stronger, more confident, and slightly more enthusiastic about burpees (emphasis on slightly), it’s been incredible for my mental health and nervous system. I do a lot of deep, attuned work in my profession, and going to class gives me a place to reconnect with my own body. It’s also been a huge help with Deborah’s social anxiety. People love her. She gets pets, praise, and the occasional treat from the coaches, if she’s lucky. What is your favorite movement or workout? Deadlifts. There’s a powerful feeling that comes from picking up something heavy that doesn’t look like it should be picked up. It makes you feel like you’ve got your life together, even if it’s just for a few reps. What is your favorite music or pump-up song? Deborah and I both love Sofi Tukker – it’s vibey and weird in the best way. But honestly, I’ll work out to anything with a beat strong enough to drown out the voices in my head. Thank you for being part of the GLSC community, Heidi & Deborah! #gymcommunity #glsc #functionalfitness #memberspotlight
