✨Member Spotlight✨ Meet Cory! A little about him in his own words: I came to Seattle from Northern California for grad school more than 20 years ago and quickly knew that the PNW would become my long-term home. After landing in Green Lake (following stints on Cap Hill and Phinney), I discovered and joined GLSC (Northwest CrossFit at the time). I had always been active/athletic, but joining the gym was my inaugural exposure to focused weightlifting and strength training. Outside of the gym, I enjoy many of the outdoor activities the PNW offers (snow- and water-skiing, paddling, jogging, hiking, etc.). My working life involves running a consulting practice focused on organizational change and executive leadership transitions in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. My aspirational GLSC goals include building biceps like Zeyab, growing hair like Alex, and cultivating a coolness factor on par with Finley. How long have you been a member of GLSC? 12+ years. How has being a part of the gym benefitted you? The two things I most appreciate about GLSC are the coaching and the community. The coaching team is stellar – knowledgeable, helpful, fun/funny, and always full of encouragement. And I’m grateful for the many connections/friendships that I’ve developed with other members over the years. Among all the gyms/studios of which I have been a part, the GLSC community tops the list. What is your favorite movement or workout? I’m a fan of the longer Metcon High workouts. I also love the energy of partner workouts. In terms of specific movements, my favorites include deadlifts, toes-to-bar, and headstand pushups. What is your favorite music or pump-up song?
