Meet Shahar! Shahar is Israeli and has been in Seattle for 2 years. Shahar moved here wanting more community, walkability, and transit access. He is appreciative that he’s been able to go car-free too. Shahar said, “One loosely fun fact about me is that I’ve been learning to make biryani. It comes out better every time.”
How long have you been a member of GLSC?
Just about 2 years.
How has being a part of the gym benefitted you?
I’ve met some good friends at the gym, so I’ve been able to feel some community through the gym. I also train with Joe, our weightlifting coach, so my weightlifting technique has gotten much sharper.
What is your favorite movement or workout?
I like the snatch. I remember when I was in college, I first saw a video of someone lifting a barbell overhead and thinking that looks so cool. It still feels that way.
What is your favorite music or pump up song?
I listen to a lot of Hebrew music at the gym. Recently, it’s been either Elai Botner or Tuna.
